Lyre Liar

Liam Francis Dance Company

Lyre Liar is an innovative solo work featuring a hybrid approach that merges elements of a mixed bill and a lecture demonstration offering audiences an intimate experience of embodied dance history.

Conceived and performed by Liam Francis, Lyre Liar traverses his journey through dance with excerpts from pieces by Merce Cunningham, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, and Kate Prince. With vulnerability and wit, Liam Francis demystifies the life of a dancer, he unpacks the complexities of shifting identities, the toll it takes and the questions it leaves behind.

Lyre Liar is co-commissioned by the Lowry and has received generous support from Zoonation, Eastman, Merce Cunningham Trust, London Studio Centre, Smikle Dance Studio, Wainsgate Dances and Brixton House
